Siong Koon is the Director for Strategic Partnerships, SIMC.

He is a seasoned lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, having been based in both Beijing and Singapore. Prior to joining SIMC, he served for 13 years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Electrolux Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa. In that role, Siong Koon built and led a team of 11 lawyers, overseeing legal and compliance matters across South-East Asia, Greater China, Japan, Korea, Egypt, the UAE and South Africa. He greatly valued the opportunity to work with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and to learn alongside them. 

Before his time at Electrolux, Siong Koon held senior roles with US IT giant Sun Microsystems, regional infrastructure group Van der Horst Limited, and Japanese electronics conglomerate NEC, as well as in private legal practice, where he was known as a pro-business legal adviser and governance partner. 

Drawing on his regional experience and passion for mediation, he has driven SIMC’s key initiatives and collaborations. He also played a leading role in the development of MAIA (Mediation Artificial Intelligence Assistant) to support SIMC mediations. 

Siong Koon is an accredited mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. He graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law and was called to the Singapore Bar.
