The 5-day SIMC Mediator Accreditation Workshop is designed to equip participants to conduct mediations through a structured process, apply diverse problem-solving techniques, and develop value-creating solutions to cross-border commercial disputes.
Drawing from our extensive experience in international commercial mediation, the workshop enables participants to build core mediator competencies and sharpen skills for resolving high-stakes commercial disputes in accordance with international best practices.
The 40-hour interactive training incorporates curated case studies, role-play exercises, and fishbowl simulations focused on cross-border commercial mediations, under the guidance of renowned international trainers from SIMC.
We have conducted the Mediator Accreditation Workshop in multiple jurisdictions for a broad range of participants, including judges, senior lawyers, general counsel, business executives, and public officials.
Assessment and Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the Mediator Accreditation Workshop, participants are eligible to take the SIMC Mediation Skills Assessment, in which their skills are evaluated against international standards.
The Assessment comprises the following components:
- Practical Role-Play Assessment
- Written Examination
- Self-Reflection Journal
Each candidate is assessed by at least two independent, external assessors.
Successful candidates will receive certification from SIMC attesting to their expertise in professional mediation, and will be able to refer to themselves as SIMC Accredited Mediators.
IMI Qualification
SIMC's Mediator Accreditation Workshop is appraised against the standards of the International Mediation Institute (IMI) and recognised by IMI. Candidates who pass the SIMC Mediation Skills Assessment:
- may be referred to as IMI Recognised Mediator Training Program (RMTP) Graduates; and
- are eligible to apply for recognition as an IMI Qualified Mediator. Detailed information on the application process will be provided to eligible individuals.
