SIMC Specialist Mediators Workshop Returns to China: First Post-Pandemic Training in Shenzhen

With 2023 coming to a close, SIMC held its final Specialist Mediators Workshop for 2023 in Shenzhen, China from 11-12 November. The participants comprised of 24 legal professionals from several major law firms and corporations including Dentons, Zhonglun W&D Law Firm Tencent, and COFCO Grains, flew in from different provinces from China to attend the 2-day workshop.

In a significant milestone, this workshop marked SIMC's first in-person engagement in China post-pandemic, and the 4th that SIMC has held for participants in China. This workshop was held in collaboration between SIMC and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), coinciding with SCIA's 40th-anniversary celebrations.

Guided by Ms. Eunice Chua, CEO of Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre Ltd, and Mr. Chuan Wee Meng, CEO of SIMC, participants delved into a comprehensive training program designed to equip them with essential skills for effectively managing cross-border commercial mediations, tailoring it for the participants.

Beyond the rigorous training, attendees were offered a unique opportunity to visit Tencent's headquarters during the company's 25th-anniversary celebration. This visit not only added a touch of joyous festivity but also provided valuable insights into the corporate culture and operations of one of the leading global entities.
